Library services

To whom and under what conditions the library provides its services

•  reader of the University library in Bratislava can be every citizen of the Slovak Republic, as well as foreign nationalities from the age of 15 and a legal entity

Readers rights

• a natural personality or juristic personality becomes a library member after the creation of the library user ID pass and registration into the library system. By signing the application the reader undertakes to comply with the provision of the library rules and regulations
• the readers identification card shall be made after signing the application and fee payment. Identification card issued by other contracting parties must be registered to access the system. Issued and registered identification cards must be activated and are the authorizing documents for the use of library services. For the activation into the library system are being taken fees according to the actual price listing

Documents required to obtain identification card

• filled out registration form
• personal identification card, foreigner identification card, passport (for foreign users who have permanent residence in Slovakia)
• a person under the age of 18 years the legal representatives and confirmation receipt of indemnity needed

The library distinguishes between four types of identification cards

• identification card with a valid activation in the library system for one year which authorizes the use of all library services
• identification card with a valid activation in the library system for one year which authorizes the use of presence services, interlibrary and international interlibrary lending services 
• identification card with a valid activation in the library system for 30 days, which authorizes the use of library attendance services (presence loans inside the library building)
• identification card with a valid activation in the library system for 7 days, which authorizes the use of the presence library services. After 7 days pass the reader is obliged to give back the card within the next 3 days and while returning it the temporary deposit will be returned for which he guaranteed for the using of the ID card

Readers duties

• they are defined by the UKB rules and regulations. The printed full text is available at the place of registration and information desks within the library
• the reader wherever it is required demonstrates his library card which he is extending each year
• if the reader violates the provision of the library rules and regulations the user can be banished from the library premises. In the case of repeated rules breaking of the library can the reader be temporary suspended from the UKB membership. In some cases the user can be suspended from the library permanently.
