Modern file format
- Office 2007 introduced XML-based file formats. PowerPoint XML files are compressed, so files are smaller, more robust, and require less storage and bandwidth.
User interface changes
- Office 2007 introduced the Office Fluent user interface, with the ribbon replacing the old menus and toolbars. The ribbon contains features and commands in intuitively categorized tabs and related groups.
- The Office Button in the upper-left corner replaced the old File menu and contains basic file management commands.
Improved presentation features
- Themes, layouts, and Quick Styles in PowerPoint 2007 offer a wide range of options for formatting presentations. There’s no more need to choose colors and style options individually for tables, charts, and graphics.
- Themes simplify the process of creating presentations—just select the theme that you want, and the background, text, graphics, charts, and tables all change to reflect the theme.
- Custom slide layouts let you add as many elements as you want—no more dependence on prepackaged layouts.
