The storm weakened to a Category 3 hurricane overnight after decimating Haiti, where the death toll rose Friday to 478, according to Reuters. NBC News could not immediately confirm that number.

Despite weakening, Matthew still packed dangerous wind gusts of up to 120 mph Friday morning, hammering the Florida shoreline and cutting off power to more than 593,000 residents.

In a sharp deterioration of relations, the U.S. on Monday suspended diplomatic contacts with Russia over Syria, while Moscow halted cooperation on a joint program for disposal of weapons-grade plutonium.

The U.S. move followed a threat last week from Secretary of State John Kerry after new Russian and Syrian attacks on the city of Aleppo. The State Department said Russia had not lived up to the terms of an agreement last month to restore the cease-fire and ensure sustained deliveries of humanitarian aid to besieged cities.

+Lettuce Prime​ no because the Senate oversight committee said it was dealing with the creation of healthcare it was an Affordable Healthcare Act they were trying to provide. And when the oversight committee came to the conclusion that somebody had to pay for it the intern threw herself under the bus sandwich after her husband became president of the United States she then and the woman given a pardon by her husband. When her husband was impeached for unethical Behavior Hillary started the Clinton Foundation to help get them back on their feet and she started becoming a congresswoman she started sitting on a whole bunch of board of directors such as Banks Wall Street Walmart and another board of directors

On Monday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that, as of August 2016, there have been 50 cases of confirmed AFM across 24 states. That's nearly double over 2015, when 21 cases for the whole year were reported.

AFM has been linked to a strain of enterovirus that's now circulating again. Some doctors are warning this could be the same mysterious, polio-like illness detected in 2014 that paralyzed 120 children.

Packing 130-mph winds, Matthew was already lashing Haiti with torrential rains as it crawled north Monday.

Jamaica and Cuba are also in path of the storm, and the Dominican Republic was expected to absorb a glancing blow. But Haiti will likely feel the full impact of Matthew's fury later Monday when the center reaches its southwestern coast.
