Today in Twitter Developer Labs we’re releasing a new way to filter Tweets in real-time. This is one of the most popular features of our API. The new filtered stream endpoints will replace POST statuses/filter once they graduate from Labs and are fully supported. Your feedback during Labs will be critical to making sure this migration is successful.

We're also letting you know about our future plans to deprecate the existing POST statuses/filter endpoint. We don’t have deprecation timing formalized yet, but we’ll give you 6 months’ notice to make migrations.

This change simplifies things by keeping all DM-related permissions together. In the past, apps with RW permissions could perform any authorized write actions, and apps with “RW+DM” permission could both access and send DMs. Now, only apps with “RW+DM” permissions can send DMs.

As of today, we’re simplifying permissions for third-party apps.
