I'm sorry, this sounds really silly, but I have no idea what in the universe the unicorn icon in Dev posts do.
Can you please explain to me what it does and why it exists?
Thanks for reading.
Sorry for bothering you. 😂😂😂
[Solved by a few hundred people. It's an Ultra-like.]

After researching the topic, I came to the following conclusion:
A developer who can pull off a job from A - Z is apparently called a "🦄 Developer".
So in my opinion, a post that deserves a 🦄 is one that explains a problem perfectly from A to Z without creating new questions.
Your comment deserves a 🦄
Thanks, I appreciate your comment :)
As one of my posts got three unicorns I'm going to choose this answer :D
Very good answer! It would be like the mythical full stack developer. A "🦄 Developer".
Wow, I agree with you !
It's serves as a second / alternative like (and counts towards a posts "hotness").
Dev.to Writing: Reactions

It is basically a super like. 😁
Well it the same as a heart reaction but I use it as "I like the content very much"
That does make sense, but I don't know why it was implemented if it is literally the same as a like.
I've seen that posts are ranked by how many likes they get (hearts). Not by how many unicorns and hearts they get in total.
Yeah I agree, is like reaction on facebook something similar but with 2
It's not just a like, It's an ultra like
your a genius. when someone did that to my post i was like WTF
XD
As far as I know, it's like the heart but funnier. That's it. Sometimes a unicorn it's just a unicorn.
Then wouldn't it be a clown? LOL
Be sensible if dev.to put a little hint in the ... er, hint (the pop up tooltip if you prefer, when hovering over the Unicorn icon). What better place to put a one liner describing what warrants a unicorn.
I use it as a super-like/unique/rare post button, which sometimes leads to me giving a post a heart and unicorn!
