Core practices are the policies and practices journals and publishers need, to reach the highest standards in publication ethics. We include cases with advice, guidance for day-to-day practice, education modules and events on topical issues, to support journals and publishers fulfil their policies.

Six new cases are to be discussed at the September COPE Forum: citation manipulation; paper mills; protecting whistleblowers; questionable retraction request; ethics approval; post-publication concerns.
The COPE Forum began with a discussion on Best practices for guest edited collections. The discussion is open for comments on the website to COPE members and non-members.
We're building the programme of events for COPE's "Publication Integrity Week". This series of COPE webinars will include sessions on handling a case of misconduct, publication misconduct and fraud, and post-publication critiques. COPE Council and invited speakers will also discuss topics in publication ethics with a focus on challenges in arts, humanities, and social science disciplines; diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility; and the essentials of publication ethics.
