We’re incredibly proud to share that The Atavist Magazine—an Automattic publication—has won a National Magazine Award for the story “Coming to America.” Written by Rhana Natour and edited by Seyward Darby, the piece follows Layan Albaz, a Palestinian teenager who lost her legs in an Israeli airstrike and traveled to the U.S. to receive prosthetics. It’s a moving, beautifully crafted story about resilience and recovery. This is what powerful, empathetic journalism looks like—and we’re honored to support it here at Automattic.
