Google Voice v5.10 adds voicemail greeting management

Google spent years ignoring Google Voice, but it finally revamped the app and website in 2017. It also promised to keep the updates coming, and it's been doing that so far. In the latest update to the Voice app, you can finally manage your voicemail greeting from the app. Yeah, that should have happened around 2009 or so, but better late than never.

Google Home supports navigating touch-tone menus by voice

Google Home got call support last year, but although we've been able to make use of the hardware's hands-free VoIP support since then, there were a few noteworthy omissions. One of them was touch-tone number entry support for things like navigating automated menu systems. That exclusion has been fixed, as you can now tell Google to "press" numbers during calls.

T-Mobile pulled a Galaxy S9 and S9+ update more than a month ago, and it's still not available

Slow and delayed updates are nothing new for Android devices, but T-Mobile and Samsung seem to be having more issues than usual. Back in April, T-Mobile had to halt the Note 8's Oreo update for several weeks, but it turns out the Galaxy S9 and S9+ had some botched updates of their own. The carrier paused an update in April, and it hasn't restarted more than a month later.

[Update: Coming this summer] Epic Games' third-person shooter 'Fortnite Battle Royale' is coming to Android in the next few months

Epic Games has officially announced that it is bringing Fortnite Battle Royale to mobile. Starting Monday, March 12, you can sign up for an invite event for iOS, though sadly support for Android is slated to release in "the next few months." What is impressive though, is that this mobile version is planned to exist right alongside the PC and console releases, as it will include the exact same content and update schedule. Even more excitingly, it will support cross-play and cross-progression between PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and eventually Android. While it does suck that Android is always treated as the redheaded stepchild of mobile, at least we know a release is planned.

House committee doubles down on ZTE sanctions despite Trump support

ZTE was recently banned from acquiring components from US-based companies for seven years after the telecommunications firm violated the terms of a sanctions case. In a surprise move, President Trump announced his support for ZTE last week, tweeting that the sanctions resulted in "(t)oo many jobs in China lost." Despite this, a House committee has voted unanimously to reinforce those sanctions.

[Update: It's now official] Sprint will announce an Unlimited 55+ plan on May 18 to compete with T-Mobile, offers 2 lines for $70

Sprint will soon unveil a plan targeted at people aged 55 years and up, a source familiar with the matter has revealed to Android Police. The plan will rival T-Mobile's recent and identically named Unlimited 55+ plan, which allows individuals who are 55 or older to get two unlimited lines for just $70 — something that would cost $120 on T-Mobile's regular ONE plan. Sprint's offering is better than a regular plan, and it now matches T-Mobile's pricing, even though T-Mobile initially offered two lines for just $60.
