What is Going On? Asteroid 2017 DR34 is about to Slip between Earth and the Moon

A newly discovered asteroid named 2017 DR34 will make a very close approach to Earth, passing only 0.57 LD (218 880 km / 136 005 miles) from the surface of our planet on February 25, 2017.

This is the second near-Earth asteroid to flyby within 1 lunar distance since February 23, and the sixth since January 9, 2017.

Asteroid 2017 DR34 has an estimated diameter between 4 and 9 m and it belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids.

It will make its closest approach to our planet at 04:52 UTC on February 25 and flyby at a speed (relative to the Earth) of 11.41 km/s.

Stunning Annular Solar Eclipse - Watch the Moon forming a "Black Hole" in the Center of the Sun

On Sunday, February 26th, the sun is going to turn into a ring of fire.

It's an annular solar eclipse.
An annular eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly in front of the sun, but the lunar disk is not quite wide enough to cover the entire star. At maximum, the Moon forms a "black hole" in the center of the sun.

The annual celestial event will be seen by people living in South America and Africa. Though parts of Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean and Antarctica will also be able to witness a partial solar eclipse.

The solar eclipse will start at about 12.10pm GMT, peak at roughly 2.58pm GMT and set at 5.35pm GMT on Sunday February 26.

A newly discovered asteroid named 2017 DG16 will flyby Earth at a very close distance of 0.34 LD (130 560 km / 81 126 miles) from the surface of our planet at 21 08 UTC on February 23, 2017. This is the fifth known near-Earth asteroid to flyby Earth within 1 lunar distance since January 8, 2017.
