Jobs at Bandcamp
So you’ve already read our about page? Perfect, then read on!
How we work
Our team is sprinkled throughout the world, with arms, cells, pods, what-have-yous in Oakland, Brooklyn, Montreal, British Columbia, the British Isles, Pittsburgh, Vermont, Paris, Melbourne, and Tokyo. We use a bunch of online collaboration tools to work together across time zones, and once a year we all get together in person for a week of trust falls and youthful misunderstandings (all ages welcome, no actual trust falls). We welcome/celebrate all manner of variance in ethnicity, race, culture, gender, and sexuality, and hope you’ll consider joining us!
What we offer
- Work from anywhere. You can work for Bandcamp from wherever you want to be, so long as the wifi is strong and your schedule overlaps GMT-7 at least four hours each day. If you prefer a co-working space to your kitchen table we cover the cost, and you’re always welcome to work from one of our as-close-as-we-get-to-an-office offices in Oakland, Victoria, Brooklyn, and Raleigh.
- Generous vacation (as in, no set number of days). We’ll remind you to take some, if necessary.
- Family leave. We have common sense leave, so take what you need. If you’ve been at Bandcamp for a year, your leave is fully paid.
- Matched charitable donations.
- Health, vision, dental, 401k matching, and travel insurance, but these are country-specific, so let’s talk.

Data Analyst
Bandcamp seeks a bright, curious analyst with superlative communication skills and experience working with real-world data. You’ll be joining a small data team, working together to help define research questions, provide empirical answers to those questions, and contribute to the development of our nascent data practice.
In this role you will:
- Work with all teams and types to shape and answer a delightfully diverse range of questions.
- Work especially closely with the product and design teams to understand the vagaries of user behavior.
- Engineer pragmatic analytic approaches in R and SQL, improving our toolkit along the way.
- Present results in lucid, engaging prose, variously supported by tables and visualizations.
- Help design, engineer, and maintain key dashboards and sundry periodic reports.
- Spelunk application code and database schema to better understand what is represented where (and why).
You have:
- The ability to convey occasionally esoteric technical concerns in an illuminating way, to virtually anyone with any background.
- Serene analytic reasoning abilities, and an indefatigable, comprehensive grasp of details.
- Broad knowledge of practical statistical methods (and pitfalls).
- Excellent SQL craft, conditioned by at least 3 years experience (bonus points awarded if you’ve worked with BigQuery).
- At least 2 years of real-world experience with R (you’ve been through the inferno and it made you stronger).
- At least 1 year working closely with a non-technical team who made use of your analyses.
- Familiarity with modern programming language concepts.
To apply, please email your resume and a cover letter to log@bandcamp.com (as in the transformation, not the tree, you see).
