Ugh, thank you for this. That new widget editor was just throwing constant json errors. I spent hours trying to figure out whether or not something was wrong with my server based on various articles I read. I decided to try this plugin to restore the old version and the errors instantly stopped. God, that new interface is such a waste of time, and terrible for so many reasons. Everyone should just use this instead. Don't fix what isn't broken, especially if the new solution is going to break stuff that wasn't broken before. WordPress needs to put this back.

Nobody asked for Gutenberg, Classic editor is one of the most popular plugins in WP history. Yet someone (i don't know who) someone with a lot of power in Automatic keeps pushing this awful non-features. The minute WP gets some decent competitors with easy imports WP will fall, you can only do an awful job for so long.

Once the the block widgets editor had mangled two of my sites, I am now installing this as standard on all the others before I even open the Widgets interface. I sincerely hope that this plugin remains for several years, as many of my clients can't afford regular significant partial rebuilds to cope with updates that break their sites. If Classic Widgets is retired in 2022 (as more than hinted at in the description), some of those sites may need to continue to run on old WordPress versions, which is NOT ideal. So many thanks to those maintaining this lifesaver - long may you keep up the good work 🙂 And by the way, I'm reserving judgement on the new blocks widget system until (a) it has had a couple more bug-fixing updates, and (b) I have tried it in a new build, rather than applied to an existing site. But if it's as slow and buggy as Gutenberg in the page editor, I must admit I'm not really looking forward to working with it.

Thank goodness for this widget. Those of us that have extensive widget customization need this to keep our websites functioning!

I have over 70 websites and the "new" gutenburg is just killing me. It is so buggy and hard to use. The move to make widgets like gutenburg is the final straw. Many of my sidebars are completely destroyed and unrecoverable when trying to use gutenburg. This plugin has saved those site. THANK YOU!!!! Unfortunately, gutenburg has RUINED wordpress. I am now using a different website builder for all my new clients.
